It’s either Yes or No… Get off the “Maybe”
The last two weeks before the upcoming Business School, Nov 29-Dec 7… I’m constantly reminded by the words of this Scottish expeditionist, W.H. Murray on “COMMITMENT”
Until one is committed, there is hesitancy,
the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness.
Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation)
there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which
kills countless ideas and splendid plans:
That the moment one definitely commits oneself,
Then Providence moves too.
All sorts of things occur to help one that would
otherwise never have occurred.
A whole stream of events issues from the decision,
raising in one’s favour all manner of unforeseen incidents
and meetings and material assistance, which no man could
have dreamt would have come his way.
I have learned a deep respect for one of Goethe’s couplets:
“Whatever you can do, or dream you can do… begin it.
Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.”
Have there ever been times in your life when you’re indecisive… sitting on the fence — thinking whether you should do this or that? Analyzing the whole situation till you’re paralyzed? So much energy and time taken, and sometimes even sleepness nights just thinking about what to do? It could be as simple as deciding whether to go out for dinner or stay home and cook. Or… deciding whether to change jobs, start a business or stay in employment?
Whatever it is… CHOOSE. Either Yes or No… and get off the “Maybe”
If you really think about all the times when you were on “Maybe”… the energy gets stuck - stagnant - not knowing where to move, time is wasted and opportunities just pass by.
Do you remember a time in your life when you made a decision and things begin to move again?
The moment you DECIDE… possibilities start to open up, as Murray says… All sorts of things occur to help one that would otherwise never have occurred… which no man could have dreamt would have come his way. Suddenly, we start to see how to make things happen…
What do you give your power to… REASONS or RESULTS?
